ARTICLE STRUCTURE
While simple plain text is the most common article format, there exist many different ways to organize and structure your article. If you wish to add a little flair to your article, below are just a few ideas you might consider:

Images. As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. You may optionally include images with your article. Simply attach any image files you wish to include when emailing us your entry:

Rich-text. Most email clients offer rich-text editing capabilities which allow you to format and style your email messages in unique and creative ways.
Typical WYSIWYG toolbar.
If plain text isn't your thing, consider spicing up your article with rich-text content.

HTML. You can also directly embed HTML tags within the text of your article, such as <a href> for links, <img> for images, <table> for tables, and <ul> for lists.

Notes. Feel free to insert notes (comments, references, attributions or other pertinent information) within your article (perhaps between parentheses). If necessary or desired, you might also choose to place related information at the bottom of your article.

Byline. Adding a byline (your name or pen name) is optional.

Example email message in Gmail. The byline (in this example, "by Jason Herrara") is an optional element. You can also place your article's title in the subject line or within the body of the email message as seen here.

Remember, there is no right or wrong way to format your article!

WRITING A WINNING ARTICLE:
A CASE STUDY
Joanne's article titled The Best WordPress Themes of 2016  took first place in last year's Write4Wildlife™ Writing Contest, garnering her the grand prize of $40,000. She also placed third in 2014.
What is Joanne's secret? She credits much of her success to a strategy known as The Skyscraper Technique. THE SKYSCRAPER TECHNIQUE:
FIND HIGH-QUALITY ARTICLES AND IMPROVE UPON THEM
As Joanne puts it, "Using Google, I found the most popular article in my chosen subject area. Then I one-upped it, so to speak, by writing a better, more in-depth article. And the rest is history!"
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1.
What should my article be about?
You may write about any web hosting-related topic. Do not be afraid to tackle dry, complex or obscure subtopics. Articles that cover unglamorous subject matter are sure to be given special attention by our judges.
2.
I know very little about these topics! How can I possibly write about them?
That's okay! Research and learn as you go. Believe in yourself, and in the end you will craft an article worth being proud of. Each year we strive to not only select topics that are relevant to today's Internet-connected society but also topics that stretch you as a writer.
3.
What other information do I need to submit along with my article?
No other information is required! You may even choose to omit your name, effectively making this an "anonymous" contest. A qualifying entry need only consist of your article text.
4.
How many winners will be chosen? What are the prize amounts?
Thirty winners will be selected. First, second and third place winners will receive cash prizes in the amounts of $40,000, $20,000 and $10,000, respectively. Among the remaining twenty-seven selectees, each will receive a cash award of no less than $1,000 and no more than $10,000. Yes, it's meant to be a surprise. Get excited!
